Lotte is a collection of timeless, versatile, minimalist (yet feminine), capsule-friendly linen staples, made to order by hand by Charlotte Cooper in a home studio located at the end of the world in magical Port Townsend, Washington. The clothing is designed to freely mix, match & layer. Comfort, simplicity & utility are paramount.
Charlotte, the heart, hands & vision behind the brand, got her start in sewing when her eldest child was a toddler, swiftly moving from her very first quilt to a popular line of whimsical, upcycled woolen owl hats that were once ubiquitous on the streets of her home town of Portland, Oregon. As her three children grew, so did her interest in clothing design. After a successful eight year run, Hoo Hats finally gave way to Fern Hill Handmade, a linen housewares, bag & tote company that found its home first at the Portland Saturday Market, and then at the market in Port Townsend in 2019. But this clothing line was always begging for attention at the back of her mind.
When Covid hit, with three kids at home, Charlotte gave up markets & festivals & design work, & found herself in the full time role of teacher & domestic goddess instead. After many months of stasis, frustration, contemplation & creative dormancy, Lotte was born.
Lotte designs are inspired by the simple beauty of life on the Olympic Peninsula- rustic but modern, minimal & comfortable but refined.
